Blue Topaz is an aluminum silicate fluoride hydroxide crystal with an orthorhombic crystal system and a hardness of 8. It frequently forms prismatic crystals, often eight-sided with striations along the length. It is found in Brazil, Sri Lanka, Russia, Madagascar, Africa and the USA. Sometimes crystals are treated with radiation to deepen the color.
